How do you go from gross to net in Switzerland?
Net salary is the gross salary minus mandatory social contributions. The main deductions are AVS/AI/APG (old-age provision), unemployment insurance (AC), occupational pension (LPP, 2nd pillar) and non-occupational accident insurance (LAA).
B or L permit holders (without a C permit) are generally subject to withholding tax, deducted directly from the salary. The rate depends on the canton, income and family situation.
This tool provides an estimate. The exact rates (especially LPP, which depends on your pension fund) appear on your payslip.
