Training

Public:

  • Cantonal HEP (Lausanne, Vaud, Fribourg, Geneva): 3 years for primary/secondary I, 1-2 years for gymnasium
  • University master + teaching CAS for gymnasium
  • CDIP recognition for foreign teachers

International (IB, English):

  • University diploma + PGCE or equivalent
  • Recruitment via Search Associates, Schrole
  • Hires in January-February for September start

Salaries

Public (Vaud, Geneva):

  • Starting primary: CHF 80-95K
  • Secondary I: CHF 95-115K
  • Secondary II / gymnasium: CHF 110-145K
  • Experienced teacher (20 years): CHF 130-170K
  • School director: CHF 140-180K

International schools (Geneva, Zurich):

  • IB primary: USD 75-105K
  • IB secondary: USD 85-120K
  • IB coordinator: USD 100-140K

Conditions

  • Public: Swiss nationality or C permit required in some cantons
  • International: B/L permit negotiated by school
